Thomas Andersson was born on 17 March 1972. He lives in Fåker in the region of Jämtland Härjedalen, Sweden. He is an entrepreneur in the construction and recycling business. He has a bachelor’s degree in political science and is deeply involved in European affairs, democracy, international co-operation and equality.
A regional elected councillor since 1998 and the current President of the Regional Council where he is in charge of gender equality among other duties, he is a member of the Swedish delegation to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, where he chairs the Current Affairs Committee and acts as spokesperson on youth and rapporteur on civil society. He is the envoy of the Assembly of European Regions (AER) to the Council of Europe.
