Economic participation of women from vulnerable groups to be discussed in Zaporizhzhia on the initiative of the Ukrainian Women's Congress

The Ukrainian Women’s Congress continues its initiative to conduct a Dialogue about women’s participation in economic recovery and overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic at the regional level. The next place for the event after Kremenchuk is Zaporizhzhia, and the Dialogue `Economic participation of women of vulnerable categories’ will take place on July 16 (12:00-14:00).

The representatives of local authorities and enterprises will unite in Zaporizhzhia to have a dialogue about economic challenges for vulnerable groups of women: Roma women, disabled ones, and women from village territories. The representatives of the state authorities and relevant ministries are expected to join the meeting.

The event will combine online and offline formats. The opening speeches are expected online and will be held by the co-founders of the Ukrainian Women’s Congress: Svitlana VOITSEKHOVSKA, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine (2014-2019), Maria IONOVA, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine. Alona BABAK, the Minister of Communities and Territories (2019-2020) is the moderator of the Dialogue.

Olena ZHUK, the Head of Zaporizhzhia regional council, Inessa NOSENKO, Chairman of the Jewish Community Center “Mazal Tov”, Anzhelika BELOVA, the president of the NGO ”Union of Roma women “Romni voice”, Tamara OHORODOVA, Chairman of the Board of the Zaporizhia Charitable Foundation “Unity for the Future” are supposed to join the Dialogue.

Representatives of the Ministry of Economics of Ukraine, the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, and the State Tax Service will join the Dialogue online.

Considering the results of the meetings during the event the Ukrainian Women’s Congress is going to prepare a practical guide for the realistic steps to be made on the local level to support effective economic recovery. Congress will send these recommendations to the government and other authorities and will inform society about the results of the Dialogue.

The Dialogue will take place in the hub “Common actions platform” (29, Turgeneva st., Zaporizhzhia).

The event is organized by the NGO “Ukrainian Women’s Congress” with the support of the National Democratic Institute, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Global Affairs Canada, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom. The National Democratic Institute is the partner of USAID DOBRE, implemented by the consortium of partners headed by Global Communities.
