The representatives of Zaporizhzhya NGOs discussed the economic participation of women from vulnerable groups

The Ukrainian Women’s Congress had a regional Dialogue in Zaporizhzhia aimed to unite the state authorities, businesses and public sector representatives during the discussion of economic challenges for vulnerable groups. The members of the Zaporizhzhia region’s NGOs played an important role in this discussion.

Inessa NOSENKO, Chairman of the Jewish Community Center “Mazal Tov”, Anzhelika BELOVA, the president of the NGO “Union of Roma women “Romni voice”, Tamara OHORODOVA, Chairman of the Board of the Zaporizhia Charitable Foundation “Unity for the Future” had their words during the Dialogue.

«The Zaporizhzhia Dialogue is not just a place to talk, but also to answer the questions. But it’s more important to raise these questions because in this way the question transforms to an issue and provokes changes. Our organization has been offering opportunities for women in complicated circumstances for more than 20 years. We develop inter-nations and social tolerance and accessibility in the Zaporizhzhia region. Due to it we know that people with disabilities and Ми розвиваємо толерантність міжнаціональну та соціальну, а також доступність в Запорізькій області. Ми побачили, що люди з інвалідністю та people with limited mobility are capable of intensive self-development and launching new creative projects», Inessa NOSENKO, Chairman of the Jewish Community Center “Mazal Tov” mentioned during the Dialogue.

«Today we have a unique event, where we, the representatives of NGOs fighting for the interests of vulnerable groups of women, can raise the problems we want to discuss. For example, Roma women have become more vulnerable during the pandemic. Roma women suffer multi discrimination for the reasons that they are women and they are Romni and their rights and opportunities are limited due to the traditional opinions inside their native community. The pandemic made the social and economic state of Roma women worse»,Anzhelika BELOVA, the president of the NGO “Union of Roma women “Romni voice” shared.

«Our foundation has supported small and medium enterprises since 2004, especially the one launched by women who try to raise themselves and their families. We do appreciate the support of international organizations in this process who help us conduct career training for these women», Tamara OHORODOVA, Chairman of the Board of the Zaporizhia Charitable Foundation “Unity for the Future” added during the Dialogue in Zaporizhzhia.

Considering the results of the event in Zaporizhzhia, the Ukrainian Women’s Congress is going to prepare a practical guide for the realistic steps to be made on the local level to support effective economic recovery. Congress will send these recommendations to the government and other authorities and inform society about the Dialogue results.

The next regional Dialogue is planned to take place in Ivano-Frankivsk this autumn.
