«We are working on a significant document – the National strategy of equal rights and possibilities for women and men», - the Deputy Minister of Social Policy

Olha REVUK, the Deputy Minister of Social Policy, took part in the Regional Dialogue in Zaporizhzhia. She mentioned that the Ministry was currently working on the National Strategy of Equal rights and opportunities for women and men: «The National Strategy for equal rights and opportunities for women and men is one more significant document we are working on right now. We would really appreciate the opinions from regions on how to improve the state of vulnerable groups of people».

The Deputy Minister mentioned that Ukraine had recently joined the Biarritz Partnership and the Coalition for promoting gender equality. These initiatives involve consistent steps of member countries to reach gender equality, especially for vulnerable groups. And now the Ministry of Social Policy works for launching the system of decreasing inequality in all the spheres of life, focusing on employment and labor. The main highlight in this topic is fair allocations of financial resources.

«We’ve developed the Methods of influence, that help to define the direct or indirect influence of reforms on the rights of different groups of people. Due to these Methods, we can define the risks in time and control them», – додала Olha REVUK, the Deputy Minister of Social Policy added during the Dialogue in Zaporizhzhia.

As was reported previously, the Ministry of Social Policy started a set of consultations about developing the strategy of ensuring equal rights and opportunities in June 2021. Particularly, there was a presentation on the issues of the 2030 National strategy of equal rights and opportunities for women and men development, that launched the series of multipart consultations supported by the UNO Women in Ukraine’s Office and Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden in Ukraine, with the participation of local authorities, international and national NGO’s.

The strategy is expected to be based on international standards in the field of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men, and also to count on national documents for gender equality.

Considering the results of the event in Zaporizhzhia, the Ukrainian Women’s Congress is going to prepare a practical guide for the realistic steps to be made on the local level to support effective economic recovery. Congress will send these recommendations to the government and other authorities and inform society about the Dialogue results.
