Tamar Tavartkiladze joined UN Women in July 2016 and led the Joint UNDP/UN Women EU-funded project “Restoration of Governance and Reconciliation in Crisis-Affected Communities of Ukraine”. Since August 2018 Tamar is in charge of UN joint programme that is being implemented in the East of Ukraine by UN Women, UNDP, UNFPA and FAO.
She has fifteen years of experience in the field of human rights, gender equality and women’s rights and peace and security. She has been working with national and international NGOs such as Center for Children with Disabilities, Norwegian Refugee Council in Caucasus and Save the Children. Tamar also worked with UN Women in Georgia where she supported the development and implementation of the National Action Plan on UN SCR 1325. Tamar is not new in Ukraine. Prior to UN Women she has been working for OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine as a Gender Adviser.
Tamar has a twenty-year-old son and on-year twin boys.
