100 participants from Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Khmelnytsky regions were invited to the Congress. In addition, participants from Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Lugansk regions were invited to share their experience.
These are all representatives of united territorial communities, local self-government bodies, state authorities and public activists.
The event will be attended by MPs – Co-chairs of IDA “Equal Opportunities” Aliona Babak, Svitlana Voitsekhovska, Maria Ionova, Olena Kondratiuk, and majority MPs – Iryna Podoliak, Oksana Yurynets.
Vice-Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Head of Lviv Regional State Administration Oleg Synyutka and Lviv City Mayor Andriy Sadovyi will take part in the Congress discussions.
The Congress will work in three formats: discussion platform, public discussion lectures, and “live library”.
The discussion platform will address the impact of gender equality on social development: problems arising from gender discrimination, why it is important to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men, and which benefits gender equality and the implementation of non-discrimination principles bring for the society.
During public lectures, the participants will discuss how to avoid gender imbalances in the socio-economic sphere in Ukraine, in particular, due to gender-oriented budgeting. This will provide, inter alia, new opportunities for Ukrainian women in business.
The format of the third platform, “live library”, is unique. During this interactive communication, the participants will be divided into groups and will be able to chat in turn with speakers – “live books”.
The Ukrainian Women’s Congress in Lviv will be held in partnership with the National Democratic Institute, the US Agency for International Development, UN Women, the “Gender Budgeting of Ukraine” Project, the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, and the international organization Global Communities, the Embassies of Sweden, Norway and Denmark in Ukraine, and the UK Good Governance Fund.
In addition, on 7-8 December this year, the Second Ukrainian Women’s Congress will be held in Kyiv with the participation of the state elite, foreign guests, international missions, representatives of business, public sector, and media.
