Ms. Ionova began her political career in 2005 as a consultant in the Administration of the President of Ukraine.
From 2008 to 2012, Maria was serving as member of Kyiv City Council. Ms.Ionova was elected to national Parliament in 2012, and reelected during elections in 2014 and 2019.
Ms. Ionova consistently works on the issues of European integration. She was a deputy chair of the Committee for European Integration in 8th convocation Along with her colleagues from the Equal Opportunities Inter-Faction Union, Maria Ionova has been working on legislation to promote women’s rights, preventing and combating domestic violence and protecting children.
During the war in the East of Ukraine, Maria Ionova has worked on legislation to strengthen the rights of internally displaced persons, particularly women and children. Along with European partners, Maria regularly visits contact line zone in Eastern Ukraine. She cooperates with volunteers collecting and delivering aid to areas affected by war.
Ms.Ionova received her M.A. in Public Administration from the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine.
