«It’s more challenging for women to find a new job», - director of the State Employment Service Yuliia Zhovtiak

During the regional Dialogue in Kremenchuk Yuliia ZHOVTIAK, Director of the State Employment Service, mentioned that it is more difficult for women to find a new job. This fact is proved by statistics. The State Employment Service has 364 thousand unemployed people registered: 39% of them are men and 61% of them are women.

«International Labor Organization published the report in January 2021 where it estimated the loss from the COVID-19 pandemic. According to experts, women lost more jobs than men – 5% to 3,9% if considered globally. What does the State Employment service do in this matter? Sure, we pay much attention to communication about gender equality and overcoming human trafficking. We created women clubs where we offer special courses for women on tax, financial literacy, and career development issues», – Yulia Zhovtiak told.

According to the Director, the State Employment Service and the Canadian fund of cooperative development, and the charity fund “Gorenia” signed an agreement about cooperation.

The purpose of the project is to support women entrepreneurship among internally displaced people. It is going to last almost 4 years in 3 regions: Kharkiv, Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk, and involve 3000 women, 2000 of which will have educational courses with the following employment. Most of them are for the seamstress profession. The first 3 groups of women have started their courses. Also, 100 women will get donor support for launching new micro and macro medium businesses in sewing production, and 100 women with existing businesses will get mentor’s support.

The Ukrainian Women’s Congress had the format of regional Dialogue for the first time on July 1 in Kremenchuk (Poltava region). The event was the start of the series of regional meetings dedicated to the most important issues of economic recovery and overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The next regional Dialogue is going to take place in Zaporizhzhia this summer.
