Co-founders of the Ukrainian Women’s Congress had a meeting with Mrs. Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine

The participants of the meeting shared their thoughts about the progress of the NGO “Ukrainian Women’s Congress”, especially regarding its institutional growth and developing the regional network.

“We have the regional network of the Ukrainian Women’s Congress and the dialogue with local communities makes issues in the equality policy that require urgent decisions clear for us”, – said Svitlana Voitsekhovska, the co-founder of the Ukrainian Women’s Congress and the People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the 8th convocation. – Especially we need to mention economic opportunities for women, the problem of fair resources allocation, and developing of local female entrepreneurship”.

The participants also discussed the ideas for the 5th Ukrainian Women’s Congress, which is to be held this autumn.

“This year is the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, so at the 5th annual Congress we would like to present great examples of women’s leadership in politics, economy and innovations, and pay special attention to the role of women in Ukrainian history”, – mentioned Olena Kondratiuk, the Vice-speaker of the Ukrainian parliament and co-founder of the Ukrainian Women’s Congress.

“Regarding the challenges for the equality policy that turn obvious during the pandemic both in Ukraine and the whole world, it is extremely important to unite efforts for the dialogue and experience sharing, as the Ukrainian Women’s Congress platform does,” – said Larysa Galadza, Mrs. Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine. – This kind of events gives us inspiration and support in current difficult times”.

“Cooperation of Ukraine and Canada in the topic of equality for women and men is a significant background for Ukraine’s progress in this matter. We do appreciate the support of Canada and are happy to be engaged in joint projects and initiatives”, – mentioned Maria Ionova, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine and the Co-founder of the Ukrainian Women’s Congress.
