The goal of the Congress is creating a platform for the dialogue between parliamentarians, local authorities, NGO’s activists, men and women about the issues of implementation the policy for equal rights and opportunities on local and regional levels; about increase of awareness about discrimination on the basis of sex and advantages of holding equality principles between men and women.
Choice of the city for the3rd regional Ukrainian Women’s Congress was not accidental. Participants from Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya, Kharkiv, Kirovograd and other regions will discuss issues of women’s roles in security and defense sphere. Obviously, representatives of front-line Mariupol have something to tell wide audience.
Problems of discrimination women in politics, tools for achieving parity representation in government and its positive influence on state authority system will also be discussed.
Different activists will take part in the event: representatives of united local communities, local authorities, state authorities, public activists, women servicemen, veterans and volunteers.
People’s deputies Alyona Babak and Svitlana Voytsekhovska, who are co-chairmen of inter-fractional parliamentary association in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine “Equal opportunities”, will moderate the event.
Congress’s discussions will involve Governmental Commissioner for Gender Policy Kateryna Levchenko, people’s deputy of Ukraine Dmytro Lubinets, gender counselor of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Viktoriya Arnautova. Congress has 2 formats: discussion platforms and presentations with discussions.
The first discussion platform will be focused on advantages of women’s political participance and security and defense gender aspects. Representatives of the Government and Parliament, women veterans and activists will express their opinions on these issues.
Speakers’ presentation will cover the topics of development urban space and infrastructure considering everyone’s interests: methods for creation city’s gender passport, implementing gender responsible budgeting and gender urbanism principles.
Discussion platform “The new ambassadors of gender equality and friendly cities development – Who are they?” will reveal the influence of public activists, businessmen and journalists on accessibility, friendliness and equality of public spaces in cities.
